Iremsu Hersek is a contemporary painter based in Belgrade whose visual language draws on fine-art training and a background in fashion and textile design. She studied painting at Ankara Anadolu Fine Arts High School and fashion and textile design at TOBB University. Earlier backstage experience at Ankara and Istanbul Fashion Weeks, alongside fashion writing for Moda Dergi, brought her into close contact with clothing, image-making and visual culture.
In her current paintings, elongated figures, imagined animals and fragments of everyday life inhabit brightly coloured narrative spaces. Expressive line and recurring patterns lend the compositions a textile-like rhythm. Familiar gestures and unexpected encounters move between observation and invention, leaving room for humour and open-ended stories. Her practice ranges from large acrylic canvases to intimate oval paintings.
In 2026, her oil painting The Trouble Is in Your Eyes was jury-selected for VIII Art Encounters in Belgrade.
